The Good Boy Gazette | OCT 2021

In September, Good Boy Farms, LLC celebrated its first birthday. It’s been a year of learning and growth for us, starting from ground zero, making mistakes and finding new solutions along the way.

Dave has masterminded an irrigation plan to help save our trees through the hot, dry summer using soaker hoses. Janet has become our resident tractor driver, keeping our pastures under control. They have both jumped back into full-time ministry with the Navigators here on the island and are keeping very busy. Josh and Kristi welcomed their second baby in August and are juggling full-time remote work and chasing their toddler. Josh suffered a shoulder dislocation this summer as well and is undergoing physical therapy to get back to full strength.

Chris and Nicole joined us on the farm in August, so now all three families are here and reunited. Chris has been putting in long days of hard work to get the farm in shape for our first season this year.

At the end of September, we had a work day with friends to clean and prep the merchandise shop for opening day in November. We are so thankful for our community and everyone’s eagerness to help! We truly could not have navigated this year on our own. We have had friends donate a work truck, loads of firewood and contribute lots of manpower hours to the farm effort.

Wondering how we ended up on a Christmas tree farm on an island to begin with? Check out our story and the meaning behind the name "Good Boy" on our website.

Good Boy Farms opens for business on Black Friday - November 26. Due to the tree shortage across the country and especially in the Pacific Northwest, we have low inventory this year. So come early if you want your pick of our selection! We plan to have U-cut trees, pre-cut trees, live wreaths and garlands, and handmade gifts and ornaments.

Cut down your tree, then stay and hang out with some hot cider and s’mores by the fire. We’re looking forward to seeing you this Christmas!

Are you interested in taking your Christmas photos at the farm? Are you a photographer looking for a mini session location? Sign up for a time slot now on our website!
